Barbecue Smoker Plans
Do you think you might like to build your own smoker? Its really not as hard as you may think. I once built one out of a couple barrels. A friend of mine built one out of an old refrigerator. Many common containers can be recycled into great smokers with a little imagination.
I recently made a smoker out of an old circa 1900 Rudd Cast Iron water heater (see post) and I have to say I like it just as much as my commercial made offset smoker. Its not large enough to do a brisket but is excellent for smoking a small pork butt or chicken. The cast iron really retains the heat and with a small cast iron pan on top as a damper your able to control the burn. Besides that its kinda cool to say I cooked that in my water heater
If you decide to try to build one on your own but need a little help try one of the building plans below.
